KIDS 'N STITCHES  2019-20
(A Kids Can Sew Program)
Ages 6 - 18 years (1st - 12th grade)

PLEASE NOTE NEW TIMES AND NEW CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE

(Classes offered are for students who come two times a month for two-hour classes instead of four times a month for one-hour classes.  This helps the students traveling distances or who have busy schedules).

I am pleased that you are interested in my Licensed Kids Can Sew Sewing School. This is my 26th year of teaching children. My Sewing School is independently owned and operated. I have organized it in the following manner. Each sewing class session is limited to 4-6 students. This means that each child will receive my personal attention so she/he can advance at their own pace. The sewing classes are two-hour classes, two times a month. (Total of 4 hours per session). My fee is $45.00 per each 4-hour session and is due before the first sewing class session_______initials. (CW: PO this semester is for August.-Dec. (2019) for $225.00 and January-May 2020 is $225.00).  Enclosed is the Student Registration Form. If you are from a Charter School just fill out and bring with you on the first day of class. If you are private pay, please fill it out and mail it back to me along with the check.  (Checks payable to Kids N Stitches). This reserves the spot in the session we spoke of over the telephone. If you have been placed on the waiting list, please hold onto the check but fill out the form and mail it to me. I will call with the next available date and time slot. Classes are paid for in advance on a monthly basis (or semester), assuring each student a reserved time. Therefore, it is important to attend all scheduled sewing lessons.  Refunds are not available for missed classes! Makeup classes are not available as the schedule does not allow for this.  ________________initials

The first session is set up as an introductory session. All materials are provided. The first day of the session your child/children will learn about sewing safety rules, the sewing machine parts and their functions, how to thread and operate a sewing machine. We begin by sewing on paper outlines gaining familiarity, control and confidence of the machine before we proceed on fabric. During the second-fourth sewing classes of the same session your child will begin and complete a tote bag. This bag will be used to bring future sewing projects to and from class. There are no additional costs to the parent for the first session. This is not how I normally make a tote bag, but I use it as a teaching tool. Once your child enrolls in the program this spot remains your child's spot until you tell me otherwise. If they decide to continue as I hope they will they will be making PJ pants or a Nightshirt. Parents will need to purchase fabric and notions for this project. The program is designed for students to complete each Kids Can Sew pattern in the four-hour session. I have two other required projects and then the continuing students may pick from other KCS patterns and then will eventually move into commercial patterns. Projects: Clothing, Quilts, Purses, Aprons, Home Decorating Items, Stuffed Animals, Costumes and much more!  If your child chooses to continue, as I hope they will, then the parent will need to purchase patterns, fabric, thread, and other notions the pattern requires.  You do not need to purchase sewing tools as I provide these for my students to use in class. Each child has a workstation. Students eventually advance into commercial patterns of their own choice and continue lessons for as long as they would like! If you have any questions pertaining to what your child is or is not doing, please call or email me. The following is a list of classes available beginning Sept. 2019-May 2020 (Classes Begin August 2019).  Calendars are available the first day of class or can be sent to you via email.
